Tumeric

Turmeric is described as a little bitter, a little peppery like mustard or horseradish, with a slight ginger flavor.

Its often used for colouring more than for the flavor. If you leave it out of recipe you may not notice much change in flavour, but the dish wont be as golden as desired.

Turmeric has been used in Sri Lankan cuisine for many years and its a spice that has also disinfectant benefits.

Storage : Keep in a cool place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
